Big block Vs Small block Empty
PostSubject: Big block Vs Small block   Big block Vs Small block Icon_minitimeFri Aug 08, 2008 3:58 pm

Ok i have been going through some heavy thought on what motor to build to drop into the dart.

I am torn between a 340 or a 440.*

Now the 340 is a legendary small block which is known to kick ass. and with a couple of modifications to the dart, i could get the dart to handle like a late '80s Camaro. which is pretty damn good. then i could race muscle car circuits.

However... If i only want to do straight line racing a 440 is a huge engine for a car such as a dart. Considering they are the high end motors of Chargers and Roadrunners which could have well over 400 lbs on me.

Also, after extensive research on my car, i have learned that the 1974 Darts were built a little different than the older ones. The front end is built more like the Roadrunners and Chargers. So a 440 won't be out of the question.

* Oh by the way i did consider a 426 Hemi, but they cost alot to build. Like i'm talkin' thousands more than a standard engine. Unless some has got hook ups on MOPAR.

I have some hook ups on MOPAR at Santa Ana Speed. It's not much, but it can help. 340 or 440 depends on what you want the car to be in the end.

I'd want an overall performer instead of a stop light to stop light car, but that's me.

Your call. Either way, lots of power.
